Anna Ruysch - A still life of flowers

We are proud to announce that A Still Life of Flowers in a Glass Vase (oil / canvas, 65 x 54 cm) by Dutch paintress Anna Ruysch (The Hague 1666 – 1754 Amsterdam), recently sold from our collection to the Krannert Art Museum in Champaign, Illinois, will be the centrepiece of the exhibition Coveting Nature: Art, Collecting and Natural History in Early Modern Europe, which will take place at the museum from August 24 through December 22, 2017.

It is the first institutional sale the gallery has made exclusively through the internet: a surprising but welcome development (although of course we do hope to continue to welcome collectors and curators to our ‘offline’ gallery too!) As this was already the fourth work by the Ruysch sisters discovered and handled by the gallery in three years, we are as of now, of course, on the lookout for a fifth!
